GOLDEN OPPORTUNITIES - A Community Partnership:
C. A. Dean is your community hospital. We ask you to join us in this broad-based community effort to raise $2 million for this Golden Opportunities Campaign. Help us build on the past to assure continued access to quality healthcare, close to home for all area families. Invest today for the need you may have tomorrow.
Preserving the Past:
Located at the gateway to the Great North Woods of Maine, Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home (C.A. Dean) began serving the critical and acute healthcare needs of Moosehead Lake area residents, recreational visitors and seasonal laborers with its opening as part of the Y.M.C.A. in 1911. August 1, 1917, C.A. Dean became a stand-alone 22-bed hospital facility where it continues today to provide the quality healthcare the people of this region have always deserved and expected. With the nearest tertiary care hospital 75 miles away, our presence and continued viability are essential to the future healthcare and economic growth of this area. It is our mission to preserve the integrity of what was founded by CEO, Charles Dean and our hospital's subsequent stewards-- including doctors Isaac Nelson, Hiram Hunt, Doc Pritham and Paul Fichtner and nurses, Nellie Morrell,Marielle Dodge, and Bernice Smith. The past, present and future are entwined as one within C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital.
Building for the Future:
While cherishing and protecting the elements of C. A. Dean that best represent our past, it is essential to the ongoing vitality of the hospital that we continue to invest in capital improvements and technological advancements that will better provide for the needs of our patients and their families. Responding to the current healthcare priorities in the community, C. A. Dean launches its Golden Opportunities Capital Campaign, a campaign modestly designed to upgrade its Emergency-OR services and construct a single-story Medical Office Building for its family practice and clinical physician services.
Emergency – OR Urgent Care Services:
Defined and funded as a critical access hospital, C. A. Dean will expand its current emergency services unit to meet higher standards of critical care. This new addition will separate urgent care and waiting areas. Patient privacy and new standards for patient confidentiality will be better addressed in this new area. Operating space for more than one patient at a time will be provided. In making this improvement, C. A. Dean will better meet the standards of a critical access hospital.
Family Practice - Clinical Care Services:
The construction of a new Medical Office Building will not only provide family practice
and clinical care facilities to better accommodate our patient needs, it will also provide our physicians with space to meet with and examine patients with greater privacy and confidentiality. The existence of a medical office building will make Greenville more attractive when recruiting
new medical staff and specialists to this area. In turn, patients will gain better access to a wider diversity of skilled medical practitioners.
